He's out of my life: Jackson erases McCartney from hit duet

Michael Jackson has delivered the ultimate snub to his former friend Sir Paul McCartney - by erasing his vocals from their 1982 hit duet The Girl Is Mine. The reclusive King of Pop has remixed his classic album Thriller to mark the 25th anniversary of the disc, which is set for release in February. On the track, which was the first single release from Thriller, McCartney and Jackson argue over a girl. The song hit number two in the U.S. Billboard charts and number eight in the UK charts. A year later, the pair teamed up again for the duet Say Say Say, which appeared on McCartney's Pipes of Peace album. However on the latest version, the former Beatle's singing has been removed from The Girl Is Mine 2008. Instead, Jackson and The Black Eyed Peas rapper Will.I.Am share McCartney's lines, according to US reports. Erased: McCartney's vocals are AWOL from The Girl Is Mine Jackson and McCartney famously fell out in 1985 when the Billie Jean pop star bought the Associated Television Corporation (ATV)'s back catalogue, which included the publishing rights to The Beatles' songs...

Michael Jackson's Thriller Enters Grammy Hall of Fame

Michael Jackson's Thriller and Pink Floyd's The Wall are among the 70 recordings that have been added to the Grammy Hall Of Fame. Among the Recording Academy's other 2007 selections are Lynyrd Skynyrd's rock anthem Free Bird, Love's classic album Forever Changes and Willie Nelson's country hit Always On My Mind. The Grammy Hall Of Fame was created in 1973 to honour recordings of lasting significance that are at least 25 years old. Its roster now numbers 798 recordings.

Considering its status as a catalog release, the new 25th anniversary reissue of Michael Jackson's "Thriller" (Epic/Legacy) was ineligible to chart on The Billboard 200 this week. But it does bow at No. 1 on the Top Pop Catalog Albums tally after selling 166,000. The project includes reworked "Thriller" tracks by Akon, Kanye West, Fergie and will.i.am.

Mr. Jackson will release the new version of the blockbuster album today, featuring new collaborations with Kanye West, Akon, Fergie and will.i.am. "It's hard to believe that 25 years ago Quincy Jones and I embarked on an album named 'Thriller,"' Mr. Jackson said in a video message to fans released yesterday by his record company, Sony-BMG. "To be able to say that 'Thriller' still holds the record as the biggest selling album of all time is just mind-blowing. After a long and frequently dramatic time away from the music industry, Michael Jackson is releasing his first new music in seven years. To mark the 25th anniversary of his record-breaking album Thriller, the man once known as the King of Pop is releasing a new version of the hit The Girl Is Mine. Originally a duet with Sir Paul McCartney, Jackson has re-recorded the song with The Black Eyed Pea’s Will.i.am. Jackson was booked to perform at the World Music Awards in London but managed only a few faltering notes. His latest comeback attempt is more ambitious. The Girl Is Mine will be on shop shelves on January 28, followed by a new edition of Thriller, featuring remixes by hip-hop heavyweights Akon and Kanye West, on February11. Then in March the singer starts a three-month-long UK tour.

More details are emerging about the recording sessions for Michael Jackson's upcoming studio album, which is being executive produced by Black Eyed Peas member will.i.am. Chris Brown tells that he got a verbal commitment from both will.i.am and Jackson himself to make a guest appearance on the project. "We are talking but…like I originally talked to will.I.am, because he does some stuff for him. And then when I talked to Mike, he said 'Yeah we’ll do something,' so hopefully we will do that record," Brown said.

According to the Web site, Rodney Jerkins, Teddy Riley and others are recording Jackson’s album in Westmeath Ireland, Las Vegas and New York; and features production. Allhiphop is also reporting that Jackson is currently working with will.i.am and rapper 50 Cent to produce a 10- to 30-date residency at London's O2 Arena
